The water is considered a vital nutrient for livestock. The availability of drinking water in adequate quantity and quality is important because it can become, if your contribution is not adequate, a limiting factor on the health status and level of animal production.
Present information obtained from the analysis of water samples received by the Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry, Department of Animal Production, INTA Balcarce.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
♦ Chemical analyzes performed: Total Sales (ST), sulfates (SO4), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), Sodium (Na), Chloride (Cl), Carbonate (CO3), bicarbonate (HCO3) and pH.
♦ Cause originating application: 65% cases know the quality of water, 35% cases the presence of a health-productive.
Frequency of occurrence of health problems-productive detected:
♦ 19% poor body and diarrhea associated with [ST] and [SO4] high.
♦ 16.7% rejection of water consumption, due to [SO4], [Ca] and [Mg] high.
♦ 14.3% weight loss caused by excess [SO 4] and [ST].
♦ 14.3% Cu deficiency and 4.8% lower pregnancy rate caused by [SO4] high.
♦ 11.9% mortality caused by [ST] in excess.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Of the 122 samples unfit:
79% had excess [ST], 53% excess of [SO4], 18% excess of [Ca] and [Mg] and 1.6% had a high pH.
♦ The quality of water for animal consumption in parts of the province of Buenos Aires is good and can not be held responsible for various health problems-productivos.El analysis of the quality of water consumed by livestock should be considered as a periodic check to be implemented in livestock facilities.
